Arts patrons gain a new addition: Princess of Wales reveals her personal exhibition at V&A East Storehouse
HRH The Princess of Wales, known for her interest in art and culture, has taken on a new role as Curator at the V&A East Storehouse in Stratford, East London. The Storehouse, open daily from 10:00 to 18:00, with extended hours until 22:00 on Thursdays and Saturdays, offers visitors a unique experience of a 'working museum.'
The Storehouse operates through self-guided experiences, allowing visitors to explore hundreds of meters of storage space filled with more than 100 ever-changing 'mini displays.' One of these mini displays is HRH The Princess of Wales's curated exhibit, which features a diverse collection of items such as an Oliver Messel-designed costume from The Royal Ballet's 1960 production of The Sleeping Beauty, a 17th century Qing dynasty porcelain vase from Jingdezhen, China, and a watercolour study of a forest glade by Beatrix Potter, author of Peter Rabbit.
Admission to the V&A East Storehouse is free, though some special workshops or events may require bookings. The Princess's curated display will be on display until early 2026. For those seeking a closer look at specific objects, the V&A's new 'Order an Object' service allows visitors to guarantee time in front of specific objects and is free of charge, available seven days a week.
Rosie Paterson, the Digital Content Director & Travel Editor for our platform, has been instrumental in organizing this exhibit. Rosie, who joined our platform in July 2014, has a background in Art History and has been involved in various events and discussions related to art, travel, and luxury trends. Beyond our platform, Rosie has written for Mr & Mrs Smith and The Gentleman's Journal, among others.
In 2022, Rosie edited our platform's special Queen's Platinum Jubilee issue and coordinated our platform's own 125 birthday celebrations. She is often jokingly referred to by the office as someone who splits her time between Claridge's, Devon, and the Maldives.
HRH The Princess of Wales's involvement in the arts extends beyond her role at the V&A East Storehouse. She has opened an interactive trail for young children at the National Portrait Gallery and been given a behind-the-scenes tour by the V&A's curatorial team. The Princess has also shown her interest in travel media, having been invited to judge a travel media award and chaired live discussions on the London property market, sustainability, and luxury travel trends.
Visitors to the V&A East Storehouse can look forward to a captivating and diverse exhibit, curated by HRH The Princess of Wales and brought to life by Rosie Paterson. It's an opportunity not to be missed for art enthusiasts and royal watchers alike.
