Wild Boars in Berlin Given Names by Amy Schwerinhouse - Berlin wild boars officially christened with the name "Amy Schweinhouse"
New Wild Boars Settle in Berlin's Tegeler See
Two wild boars, named Amy Schweinhouse and Keiler Minogue, have made their home near Tegeler See in Berlin, following a period of emptiness at the wildlife enclosure. The names are playful nods to famous musicians, with Amy referring to the late soul singer Amy Winehouse and Keiler to pop singer Kylie Minogue, despite Keiler being a male wild boar.
Amy, a one-year-old female wild boar (Bache), and Keiler, a two-year-old male, have been living at the Revierförsterei Tegelsee since April 2025. In late June, during a stormy night, Amy gave birth to a piglet named Ziros, much to the surprise of the forestry team. The piglet was well hidden for some time after birth.
The enclosure had been vacant for about eleven weeks due to a previous outbreak of wild and cattle disease. However, after a sufficient waiting period and when conditions were deemed safe, the wild boars and their newborn were welcomed to the wildlife area.
Keiler, despite his name, is a male wild boar (Keiler). The gender of Ziros, the piglet born to Amy, is still unknown.
Meanwhile, at the Revierförsterei Spandau, there was also offspring among the deer.
The Berlin Forests made the announcement regarding the names of the new wild boars, and the enclosure is now located at the northern edge of the Berlin Zoo. The wild boars' arrival marks a fresh start for the wildlife area near Berlin’s Tegeler See.
