Blooms dominating the majority of the neighborhood during Easter season
The picturesque town of Mostviertel is gearing up for a breathtaking natural spectacle – the pear blossom game. This year, the bloom is expected to commence from Easter weekend and continue until the Day of Most on April 27, 2025.
Toni Distelberger, the Most Baron, has confirmed the delay in the pear blossom assessment due to cooler temperatures, with the bloom expected to last for approximately 5-10 days, depending on the altitude. A staggering 120,000 pear trees are set to blossom in the Moststraße regions, transforming the landscape into a vibrant sea of white and pink.
The pear blossom has become a significant tourist attraction, offering a variety of experiences for visitors. Guests can take vintage bus tours that make circular journeys through the region, stopping at seven Most heurigen and inns. Each stop offers unique experiences, providing a chance to immerse oneself in the local culture.
For those who prefer a more active approach, tree blossom hikes and the newly introduced Herz Mostviertel circular hiking trail are excellent options. The region is also hosting spring 2024 parties, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Communities, Most heurigen, inns, Most barons, farm shops, and tourist attractions are participating in spring cuisine events, ensuring a gastronomic adventure for all. Michaela Hinterholzer, chairwoman of the LEADER region Moststraße, invites everyone to visit the region during the pear blossom, promising a memorable experience.
Michaela Hinterholzer, a well-respected figure in regional development, was honoured with an award in 2014 for her contributions to the state of Lower Austria. She has also been actively involved in community initiatives such as health promotion projects in Neuhofen an der Ybbs.
The pear blossom spectacle is the next natural spectacle after the Wachau apricot trees' bloom, making Mostviertel a must-visit destination this spring. Keep an eye on the Pear Tree webcam for live images of the current blossom status. Don't miss out on this magical event!
