Brand-new establishment in town: Restaurant Hamachi & Fashion Cellar
New and Trendy in Town
Step into the freshly opened restaurant on Nikolaistraße 5, Hannover, and immerse yourself in an innovative fusion of Sushi and Asian cuisine. This eatery brings Japanese precision together with French culinary artistry, with a focus on quality and freshness. The name Hamachi, a Japanese term for yellowtail tuna usually used in Japanese cuisine for Sushi, sets the tone for this unique dining experience.
One standout feature of this restaurant is the Hamachi Starter Set - a selection of six chef-curated, mouthwatering appetizers that can be ordered as a 3-course menu or individually. If you're feeling adventurous, the Sushi Surprise Plate, designed for one or two people, is a fantastic choice. For the Main Course, choose from Cod or Duck. Those seeking to surprise their taste buds with the Chef's Sushi creations should give the Sushi Surprise Plate a try. For a more budget-friendly option, the Bento Selections offer a wide variety of Sushi dishes, including Signature Rolls, Maki Rolls, Sashimi, and Nigiri, which can also be ordered separately. The menu also features Soups and Sides.
Generally, the restaurant offers a curated selection of dishes with top-notch quality. The beverage menu includes a variety of Aperitifs, like Sake or Aperol Spritz, Champagne, Beer, Wine, Cocktails, Longdrinks, Softdrinks, and Hot Beverages. A reservation is required, and it can be made through the restaurant's website: www.hamachihannover.de.
Meanwhile, in a city where Fast Fashion, excessive clothing production, and rising living costs are on the rise, the newly opened thrift store, wasmitherz in the Nordstadt district, provides a glimpse of sustainable clothing practices. Under the slogan "Share instead of buy new," wasmitherz welcomes all neighbors to its communal closet. Since March 5, the store has been open every Wednesday and Friday.
Every year, millions of tons of clothing end up in landfills, and the textile production continues to grow, even though we already own more than enough clothing[1]. "Our closets are overflowing - we don't always need to buy new. In the thrift store, clothing can have a second life - shared, stylish, and welcoming to everyone," explains the team from wasmitherz. Instead of consuming at the expense of the environment and working conditions, the communal thrift store aims to pass on, exchange, and support clothing items. Donations are accepted for well-preserved adult clothing in all sizes during opening hours.
Once the donated clothing is collected, sorted, and organized, it is available for free to everyone living in the neighborhood - regardless of income or origin. However, each person can take a maximum of three items to ensure everyone has a fair chance to find something. There's also a small borrow section with party wear. This way, one can dress up for special occasions sustainably without spending any money[2].
