Community Gathers for the Anniversary Festival of "With Heart and Hand for Wersten" Foundation

In the heart of Düsseldorf's Wersten district, a vibrant celebration took place last weekend. The annual anniversary festival of the "With Heart and Hand for Wersten" foundation brought together locals, community leaders, and special guests to celebrate 20 years of community support and neighbourhood improvement.

The event, held on Lützenkircher Street, was marked by the lively music of the Werstener Music Company, which played on the street throughout the day. Heidi Reich and Ali Bouzagaoui, members of the foundation's board, were seen dancing along to the tunes.

Kai Reinartz, the festival host and auctioneer, played a pivotal role in raising several hundred euros for the foundation through various auctions. Among the items auctioned were the Tilly picture of the Toten Hosen, which was bought by Fabian Zachel, and other motives that found buyers during the event.

Borussia Düsseldorf contributed significantly to the festivities, providing table tennis equipment, a foosball table, a bouncy castle, and a football cage for the children's activities. There were also play stations, cuddling with guinea pigs, face painting, and drumming with Moussa Diallo available for the young attendees.

The "Werstener Heart" award was given for the fifth time this year to Ellen Hillebrand for her exceptional commitment to the neighbourhood. The current board of the foundation includes Klaus Lorenz, Pastor Florian Ganslmeier, Heidi Reich, Ali Bouzagaoui, and Trudy Löffelsend.

The motto of the "With Heart and Hand for Wersten" foundation, "Many small people in many small places, who take many small steps, can change the face of the world," resonated throughout the day as the community came together to support a cause close to their hearts.

The foundation relies on volunteer commitment and financial support from donors. The proceeds from the auction went to the foundation, which uses the funds to support weekly food distribution, school material support, class trips, and aid for seniors in the community.

Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller took over the patronage of the anniversary festival and attended personally. Klaus Lorenz and the priest of the Romanian Orthodox Church, Iosif-Cristian Radulescu, were also present at the celebration. Lützenkircher Street was closed in front of the OT for the celebration, allowing the community to come together in a festive atmosphere.

The "With Heart and Hand for Wersten" foundation has been active since 2004, focusing on community support and providing help where it's needed. For precise and up-to-date details on its background and current projects, it is recommended to check local Düsseldorf municipal resources, community bulletin boards, or the foundation’s own website or social media channels.
