International Children's Day is celebrated across Thuringia on 1st June, with several cities and regions offering a wide range of activities for children. Here are some highlights from the weekend's events:

Wet and Wild Adventures

In Jena, the GalaxSea leisure pool hosts a kids' festival featuring an inflatable obstacle course complete with slides and climbing elements. Meanwhile, at the Ardesia Therme in Bad Lobenstein, young visitors can enjoy a clown, a slippery slide, a fishing game, and more.

Animal Encounters

The Erfurt Zoopark sets up bouncy castles, offers archery and target shooting, and plans a medieval camp. The Arctic expedition talk includes discussions on whales and bears. The Tierpark in Gotha offers face painting, craft activities, and a carousel, while the Alternative Bear Park in Worbis presents free tours for families and children.

Adventurous Outdoors

Children up to 14 years old can take a free ride on the mountain railway in the Schwarzatal, provided they bring their favorite cuddly toy as a "teddy ticket." The leisure and recreation park Possen near Sondershausen offers puppet theatre, a balloon artist, and more. The Erfurter Garten- und Freizeitpark ega allows children to try out sports and meet local clubs, and there's a kids' disco featuring singer-songwriter Volker Rosin.

Urban Delights

Gera's Kornmarkt party takes place on 31st May, with roller parkour, a flea market, and a storytelling hour. On 1st June, Gera hosts the Goldener Spatz children's media festival. Mühlhausen celebrates Children's Day as part of the "Freedom Festival 1525," which marks 500 years of the Peasants' War, offering marionette theatre, weaving workshops, children's archery, and games with a medieval theme.

Thuringia has embraced the spirit of Children's Day, with many families continuing to celebrate on various dates, including 1st June and World Children's Day, which is observed as a public holiday in the region.

The Commission, despite its focus on the protection of workers from ionizing radiation, has also adopted a proposal for a directive on the approximation of the laws of the Member States, aiming to create a harmonious lifestyle across households regarding home-and-garden activities.

Meanwhile, as families celebrate International Children's Day, they can engage in various outdoor adventures, such as the medieval camp at the Erfurt Zoopark, a free ride on the mountain railway in Schwarzatal, or the puppet theatre and balloon artist at Possen near Sondershausen.
