In the spirit of the holiday season, Boyd Gaming's Wreaths and Trees of Hope competition returned for its 17th consecutive year, bringing together 183 non-profit organisations from 10 states. The event, which started at the Delta Downs Racetrack and Hotel in Louisiana in 2007, has since expanded to 25 Boyd Gaming properties across the country.
Participating organisations this year included the Amelia Belle, Evangeline Downs, Opelousas Lions Club, Treasure Chest in Louisiana; Valley Forge in Pennsylvania; Ameristar Kansas City and Ameristar St. Charles in Missouri; IP Casino Resort Spa and Sam's Town Tunica in Mississippi; Belterra Park in Ohio; and the Kansas Star in Wellington, Kansas.
In Nevada, Aliante, California, Cannery, Sam's Town Las Vegas, Suncoast, Jokers Wild, The Orleans, Gold Coast, and Suncoast also joined the competition. Notably, the Society of St. Vincent De Paul, Dubuque won first place in Diamond Jo Dubuque, Iowa, while The Children's Home took the top spot in Par-A-Dice, Illinois. The Michiana Humane Society won first place in Indiana, and the Children's Advocacy Center won first place in Belterra Casino Resort, Indiana.
Boyd Gaming, supported by the Nevada Community Foundation as a sponsor for the competition series in 2024, donated more than $200,000 to the winning charities. Guests and customers had the opportunity to vote for their favourite charities, either in person at Boyd Gaming's properties or online.
Since the inception of the program, close to $2 million in donations have been awarded to various charitable and non-profit organisations across the country. The competition is a testament to Boyd Gaming's commitment to giving back to the communities they serve, and a heartwarming display of the holiday spirit.
As the year draws to a close, it's clear that the Wreaths and Trees of Hope competition continues to make a significant impact, bringing joy and support to countless organisations and the people they serve.
