Charity Event Organized to Support St. Francis Animal Shelter, Held at Local Lake
The Lake DeSmet Lake Party Fundraiser took place on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 7 p.m., offering a unique opportunity for community members to support local animal welfare efforts while enjoying the picturesque lake setting.
Held at Lake DeSmet, the event requested a donation of $20 to benefit the St. Francis Animal Shelter, which recently had its care contract approved by the Buffalo City Council for the 2025-26 fiscal year[1][2].
The St. Francis Animal Shelter is dedicated to ending the euthanasia of companion animals and offers a variety of services, including low-cost vaccinations, microchipping, spaying, and neutering. The shelter also participates in the Trap-Neuter-Return program to help decrease the feral cat population[3].
The fundraiser event featured entertainment from Cruisin' on the R3 Sound Stage, providing music to add to the enjoyable atmosphere. In addition, a NY style hot dog cart and spaghetti with clam sauce were available for attendees to enjoy[4].
To reach the event, take exit 53 off I-90[5]. All proceeds from the Lake Party Fundraiser will go directly to the St. Francis Animal Shelter, ensuring that the shelter can continue its important work in the community.
