Taking a Stroll Down Heimbach Street: Unraveling the Story of Kaufbar Viersen

In the heart of Viersen, Germany, you'll find a unique establishment that's as much about people as it is about the goods they offer. Kaufbar Viersen, while not a household name, is a beacon of community empowerment and job market reintegration. Here's the lowdown on this local treasure.

Roots and Relationships

The Kaufbar's journey began back in 2013, nurtured by the County of Viersen and its Society for the Promotion of Employment (GFB). Renate Friedrich of the GFB played a pivotal role in establishing the facility, which first stood on Heimbach Street. Later, in 2015, the Kaufbar was reborn on a new foundation. Contacts-Rat-Hilfe and Bruckenbau e.V joined forces to create a non-profit organization, paving the way for this revival.

Driving Force and Collaborative Spirit

Hans Josef Kampe, a long-standing pillar of the Kaufbar, proudly acknowledges the companions who have supported the journey. Names like Reiner Lennertz (former managing director), Monika Mai (former operations manager), and Martina Maaßen (Bruckenbau e.V managing director) are etched in the Kaufbar's history. The organization also fosters strong partnerships with Jobcenter managing director Franz-Josef Schmitz and entrepreneur Peter Zaum, who made it possible to consolidate the Kaufbar's departments under one roof in the old paper factory.

Sustainability and Second Chances

Viersen's Mayor, Sabine Anemuelller, highlighted the theme of sustainability in her welcome speech. At Kaufbar Viersen, everything donated remains part of a cycle – giving objects a second life and offering people a chance to start anew. "That's what makes Kaufbar Viersen special: a second chance for things and for people," said Anemuelller.

Former employees who benefited from the Kaufbar's qualification measures shared their experiences in pre-recorded video messages. Their unanimous sentiment? "Thanks to the Kaufbar, we've found our footing." Kaufbar managing director Diana Boronyak promised to continue supporting employees and participants, ensuring customer satisfaction and the Kaufbar's gardening services to thrive.

Exploring the Kaufbar and Celebrating Success

Post-ceremony, guests had the chance to delve deeper into the Kaufbar's work through guided tours. Looking ahead, the Kaufbar's customers are in for a treat – a big family celebration on Saturday, June 28, to celebrate the organization's anniversary.

Behind the Scenes:

Kaufbar Viersen represents more than just a neighborhood shop. As a social enterprise aiming to bolster local job market reintegration, it plays a significant role in providing training, support, and community engagement. Founded by the County of Viersen and the GFB, the organization has since flourished under the guidance of various driving forces, such as Hans Josef Kampe. By providing a platform for individuals to learn new skills, build confidence, and network, the Kaufbar paves the way for a stronger, more cohesive community.

1.Following the Kaufbar's expansive journey, they are now delving into new horizons, offering 'other lifestyle' choices and 'home-and-garden' settings with 'deals-and-discounts' for their customers during the shopping experience.

  1. In alignment with their commitment to community engagement, Kaufbar Viersen's anniversary celebration in June promises a family-oriented event, celebrating their achievements and reaffirming their mission as a provider of second chances, both for 'things' and for 'people'.
