City of Events unites with Foodinate in battle against food shortage for the underprivileged
Foodinate, a multi-award winning social enterprise born in Manchester in 2016, is making a significant impact on a national scale, working with numerous businesses and individuals to address food poverty and homelessness. The latest organization to join this noble cause is EventCity, the largest conference, exhibition, and multi-purpose venue in the North.
The partnership between EventCity and Foodinate was confirmed during EventCity's annual conference in September, with a pledge to provide 350 meals to those in need. This move is significant for EventCity as it allows them to give back to their local community in a substantial way.
Steven Cook, F&B Director of EventCity, expressed his hope that other companies will follow in their footsteps. He commented, "We are delighted to partner with Foodinate and play our part in helping those less fortunate in our community. We hope that other businesses will join us in this important initiative."
The partnership will implement Foodinate's 'meal for meal' concept, where for every meal served during corporate events at EventCity, a meal will be provided to someone in need within the local community. This innovative approach ensures that those in need not only receive a hot, nourishing meal but also bring them into a safe, warm environment where they can access services potentially leading to employment, housing, and healthcare.
EventCity, through its partnership with Foodinate, hopes to provide a similar amount of meals to those in need as the number of people visiting their venue each month. This ambitious goal is further supported by Peel L&P, the owners of EventCity, who have confirmed their participation in the initiative during their annual conference this September at EventCity, pledging to provide 350 meals to those in need.
The annual conference project at EventCity this September is led by Sarah Müller, and 500 meals will be donated to needy people in the surrounding area of the event hall. This partnership is expected to have a profound impact on the local community, providing thousands of meals to those in need.
Foodinate's mission is to provide meals for those in need and offer them access to services that could potentially improve their lives. The enterprise was born from a sense of urgency to address the growing problem of homelessness. Today, 45% of those who receive a Foodinate-generated meal go on to take part in activities that boost their confidence and skills through the services made available.
EventCity, like many other cities, has experienced an extreme rise in poverty and homelessness. This partnership is a testament to the power of collaboration and the commitment of businesses to make a positive impact on their communities. As Steven Cook said, "We invite other businesses to join us in this initiative and help us make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most."
