Cleaning Up Detmold: Community Effort for a Brighter Future

Detmold, Germany - The city of Detmold has taken a significant step towards promoting a cleaner and healthier environment with the installation of new dog waste disposal signs. The initiative, spearheaded by the city portal's Freiraumplanung team, aims to address the ongoing issue of improper dog waste disposal in public spaces.

The signs, designed by renowned cartoonist André Sedlaczek, have been installed in various locations including neighborhood parks, green connections near playgrounds, and particularly affected areas. In addition to these, signs can be found in Friedrichstal park and the city center.

The signs are not prohibition or command signs but are intended as a friendly reminder for better coexistence among citizens. They draw attention to the sensitive issue of dog waste disposal in a charming manner, reminding dog owners to dispose of their pets' waste properly in public green spaces, paths, parks, squares, and children's playgrounds.

Despite the widespread "bag culture," there are still dog owners who fail to dispose of their pets' waste properly. The result of improper waste disposal is unpleasant odors and potential contamination for others. The new signs aim to help reduce these issues, encouraging responsible pet ownership and a cleaner environment for all citizens.

The idea for developing new markings to address the problem of insufficient disposal of dog feces in Detmold originated from local city officials and environmental groups aiming to improve cleanliness. The first signs have been installed in the Friedrichstal park area and some can also be seen in the city center. More locations will follow in particularly affected areas, neighborhood parks, and green connections near playgrounds.

For inquiries about the initiative, contact Daniela Lang via email or phone number 05231 977 201. The signs are a positive step towards a cleaner and healthier Detmold, and the city encourages all dog owners to respect the new signs and dispose of their pets' waste properly.
