Commencing grilling extravaganza:

In the heart of Europe, Austria's love for grilling remains undeterred, even as prices continue to climb. Amidst this economic climate, a growing interest in light, international grilling experiences is being welcomed by suppliers like Yuu'n Mee, a specialist in Asian seafood products.

A recent survey by TQS, commissioned by Yuu'n Mee, sheds light on Austrian grilling habits. The findings reveal that seafood, particularly fish and shrimp, are gaining popularity, with 9% and 8% of respondents, respectively, opting for these options. Interestingly, the sea bass (Branzino) has become increasingly popular due to its tender meat and fine aroma, often seasoned with traditional or Mediterranean spices suitable for grilling.

Despite the rise in prices, particularly for beef, which is causing concern in retail, meat remains the preferred choice for most Austrians. According to the survey, 60% of respondents plan to continue opting for meat at their barbecues. This trend is echoed by Spar spokesperson Nicole Berkmann, who confirmed that while the veggie trend is popular, meat consumption remains robust.

One of Austria's leading meat producers, Wiesbauer, achieved a group turnover of 237 million euros in 2024, offering a stable result despite challenging conditions. CEO Thomas Schmiedbauer attributes these conditions to increased personnel and logistics costs.

For hassle-free and easy lighting of the grill, especially on windy evenings, the Weber lighting set is recommended. For those seeking a compact, efficient, and quick-use grill option, the Weber electric grill is a suitable choice.

Despite the gloomy economic climate, Austrians are still planning barbecues. As the grilling season begins, it's clear that the love for grilling in Austria is as strong as ever.
