Construction Updates on Fomchenko Square: Progress on the Pier and Amphitheater
In the heart of Biysk, a significant transformation is underway at Kuzma Fomchenko Square. The city's main square is currently the focus of an extensive renovation project, with a budget of 124 million rubles.
The project, which includes the demolition of damaged structures, the installation of retaining walls for landscape leveling, and the construction of new infrastructure, is progressing as scheduled. Regular inspections are being conducted to ensure that the timeline remains on track.
One of the most notable features of the square, the white obelisk commemorating those who died for the establishment of Soviet power, is set to undergo a transformation as well. The process of obtaining necessary permits for its repair work is currently underway.
The main installation work, including the installation of electrical networks, has already been completed. However, due to the rainy weather, work on the spring near the embankment has been temporarily halted.
Once the main construction work is finished, the landscaping and greening of the area will take place. Well-adapted Siberian trees like birches and limes will be planted to enhance the square's natural beauty. The children's sports facilities will be slightly relocated higher to prevent them from being flooded by water.
The improvement of the square will be done within the framework of the concept presented at the competition, as noted by Victor Shigrev, the city head. Regarding the graves found on the site of the demolished Troitsky Cathedral in 1934, their landscaping is currently under discussion in the city administration.
Cobblestone paving is currently being laid in the square, with one crew working from ul. Lev Tolstoy and another from the embankment. After the concrete work is completed in August, the installation of benches, trash cans, lighting, and other architectural structures and facilities will follow.
As the transformation of Fomchenko Square continues, the city of Biysk is eagerly anticipating the completion of this significant project, which promises to enhance the city's urban landscape and provide a new space for community gathering and enjoyment. For the latest updates on the project's progress, residents and visitors are encouraged to follow official project updates from Biysk city authorities or the construction management team overseeing the square's redevelopment.
The renovation project at Kuzma Fomchenko Square includes plans to improve the home-and-garden aesthetics by planting well-adapted Siberian trees, such as birches and limes, to enhance the square's natural beauty. Once the construction work is finished, the lifestyle of city residents and visitors will be enriched with new facilities for community gatherings and enjoyment.
