"Cyclist begins urban journey"
🚴🏼♂️A Pedaling Party in Pleasantville, Schoenberg 🚴🏼♂️
Monday, May 12th, was a lively morning at the Comprehensive School Probstei in Schoenberg, where over 100 students and educators gathered for the kickoff of the "Stadtradeln" extravaganza. With dancey tunes in the air, they journeyed on two-wheeled steeds, guided by the police and the ASB, as they rolled along a colorful 3 kilometer route around Schoenberg.
Among the cyclists were key figures like District Administrator Björn Demmin, School Association Chairman Lutz Schlünsen, and Principal Markus Oddey. The spirited Grand Depart was signaled by Mayor Peter Kokocinski, who fired the starting pistol for this energetic action. The bike carnival marked the start of a school-wide competition where every class in the GSP aims to log as many bike kilometers as possible over the upcoming three weeks. The class that clocks in the most miles will win a cinematic adventure at the Schoenberg cinema.
Björn Demmin, brimming with excitement, shared, "The energetic Monday morning bike bash is a top-notch initiative. Pedaling in the fresh air offers fun, health benefits, eco-friendliness, and fosters the school community's togetherness. This school-wide competition playfully motivates the integration of cycling into daily life – something I staunchly support! Proceedings like the Stadtradeln are crucial, as they increase awareness for sustainable mobility and show how effortlessly we can practice climate protection in our day-to-day lives. Cycling whenever possible just feelings right, and I'm glad to lead the charge in the Plön district today – for more action, greener methods, and a livable future."
The story was orchestrated by the Working Group Bike-Friendly School, under the direction of Climate Manager Greta Oschmann and teacher Michael Scherer. Scherer revealed that their goal with the competition was to encourage physical activity, nurture a connection with nature, foster camaraderie among classes, and above all, ignite enthusiasm for eco-friendly transportation.
Mayor Peter Kokocinski chipped in, "The community of Schoenberg, alongside its climate protection manager Lars-Börje Vormstein, has organized Schoenberg's participation in the Stadtradeln action since 2023 for the third time. I'm thrilled that, unlike in the previous years when select students, teachers, and parent representatives took part, almost the entire Comprehensive School Probstei is joining this year. I express my gratitude to everyone who has contributed to this, especially Principal Dr. Markus Oddey, School Association Chairman Lutz Schlünsen, Climate Manager Greta Oschmann, and teacher Michael Scherer."
The school parade was a resounding statement for sustainable transportation and marked the beginning of three active and enchanting weeks packed with dedication, camaraderie, and a greener tomorrow.
