East-West Bike Axis Enhanced: New Measures Boost Cyclist Safety and Visibility
Welcoming news for cyclists, the local city traffic authorities have implemented several measures to enhance the east-west bike route. Key changes include moving parking spaces near the Goethestraße intersection to boost cyclist visibility and opening a section of Löberstraße for two-way bike traffic.
The improved bike route stretches between the city park and the train station or the Lahn, connecting to the bustling Goethestraße bike path. Cyclists can now enjoy a smoother ride with the installation of a median for crossing Berliner Platz, a designated bike street in Roonstraße, and signalized crossings on Frankfurter Straße and Alienstraße.
In detail, the section of Löberstraße between Bismarckstraße and Goethestraße is now open for bike traffic in the opposite direction. This change allows cyclists coming from Berliner Platz to pass through without navigating the busy Bismarckstraße and Lonystraße intersection. To accommodate this shift, resident parking spaces previously on Löberstraße will be relocated to Lonystraße between Goethestraße and Bleichstraße. Additional signs will also be added to allow cycling in the opposite direction on Löberstraße.
These improvements aim to create a safer and more efficient cycling route, connecting the city park and the train station or the Lahn. While ensuring sufficient space for car traffic and escape routes, these changes are expected to enhance the overall cycling experience in the area.
