In the picturesque Lahn Valley, two exceptional establishments—the Hessian Court in Gießen and the Wine House Schultes in Limburg—stand out for their commitment to culinary excellence, sustainability, and regional affiliation.

Nestled within this charming vacation region of Germany, these two gastronomy businesses have been honoured with the prestigious quality seal "Hesse à la Carte". The award, presented by Kaweh Mansouri, Hessian Minister for Economy, Energy, Transport, Housing and Rural Development, and the Hesse à la carte business managers Gisbert J. Kern and Yvonne Heider, recognises their dedication to serving diverse and delicious Hessian cuisine.

The city of Gießen, also located within the Lahn Valley, is home to the Hessian Court. This establishment prides itself on its homemade quality and traditional Hessian roots, producing its own ketchup and cream cheese. Meanwhile, the Wine House Schultes in Limburg specialises in seasonal cuisine, with daily changing recommendations such as asparagus, mushrooms, and game. The Wine House Schultes offers a Hessian-Mediterranean cuisine, predominantly working with regional producers and suppliers.

The quality seal "Hesse à la Carte" is awarded based on a comprehensive three-year quality check that evaluates criteria such as the origin of the products, the culinary offer, and the gastronomic quality. Depending on the score, businesses are awarded 1, 2, or 3 Hessian state lions. This year, four North Hessian restaurants were recognised, but the Hessian Court and the Wine House Schultes were not on the list.

Despite not receiving the recognition this time, both establishments continue to exemplify the connection of culinary ambition, sustainability, and regional affiliation. Their commitment to the diverse and delicious Hessian cuisine is appreciated by the Lahn Valley Tourism Association, which values their efforts to promote regionality and hospitality.

The Lahn Valley, known for enjoyment, hospitality, and lived regionality, is a region where these values are not just appreciated but lived out every day. The Hessian Court and the Wine House Schultes are shining examples of this, making them must-visit destinations for food lovers seeking authentic and sustainable dining experiences.
