In the heart of Bergisch Gladbach, a series of exciting events are set to take place on September 13, 2025. Known as the Day of Open Monuments, this day invites citizens and visitors alike to delve into the evolving character of one of the city's key locations.

Nine temporary studios for local artists, nestled on the third floor of the F260 workshop building, have been in use since August 1. These studios provide a creative hub for artists to showcase their work and contribute to the vibrant cultural scene in the city.

One of the main highlights of the day will be the official opening of Butscha Square. This new square, located in the future district, near the Rails Park, the Forum building, and the protected power plant, will be presented by Mayor Frank Stein and his colleague from Butscha, Anatolii Fedoruk, at 11 am. The opening ceremony will be accompanied by a performance by the hip-hop project "Create Hip-Hop EmPOWERment" and a city partnership shuffle.

The Square will also be the venue for a blessing by a representative of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

The Old Central Workshop, which will become a socio-cultural center in the coming years, will be accessible throughout the day. Here, Gasthaus Paas will offer a pop-up beer garden and food, providing a perfect opportunity for visitors to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

The historic monuments of the former paper factory on Zanders will reopen on this day, offering guided tours focusing on the site's history and future. An information event on the current development plans with the planning firm Albert Speer + Partner (AS+P) will provide insights into the plans for the area's sustainable transformation.

Two thematic guided walks across the premises, titled "Urban Development on Zanders - Industrial History Meets Urban Planning" and "The Path of Coal," will offer unique perspectives on the industrial culture and city development.

Visitors can also explore the exhibition of works by students of the Bergische Kunstschule, which will be open from 12 to 6 PM. The exhibition will culminate in a formal closing ceremony on the Day of Open Monuments.

A further development plan for the Zanders area, worked out since March 2025, will be presented between 2 and 4 PM. This will provide an opportunity for interested citizens to gain a deeper understanding of the plans for the area's future.

Wolfgang Heuwinkel will present a nature sculpture as a gift to the city at the Gleispark, adding another layer of art and culture to the day's events.

This program offers a unique opportunity for citizens to engage deeply with the evolving character of this key location in Bergisch Gladbach's urban fabric. Don't miss out on this chance to explore, learn, and celebrate the city's rich history and exciting future.
