The Korea Heritage Agency and Korea Heritage Service are set to unveil an immersive digital exhibition, "Heritage: The Future Fantasy," at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul from August 23 to September 17, 2025.

This large-scale event promises to showcase Korea’s national heritage in a unique and innovative way, using cutting-edge technology to bring historical assets to life. The exhibition aims to explore how these treasures can be preserved and reimagined for the future.

Visitors can expect a variety of interactive multimedia installations, including an opening installation by artist Kim Jun-su, offering a reimagined interpretation of Korean pagodas. A highlight of the exhibition is a large-scale projection featuring 3D visuals of the royal protocols from the Joseon era, allowing visitors to vividly experience historical ceremonies.

The exhibition will also present videos of skilled artisans at work, showcasing the intricate craftsmanship behind traditional Korean crafts. Eleven actual heritage objects connected to the multimedia content will be displayed, providing tangible links to Korea’s cultural history.

The venue, Dongdaemun Design Plaza, with its futuristic architecture by Zaha Hadid, complements the exhibition's theme of merging heritage with the future and fantasy.

Notably, "The Heritage Garden -- Threads of Connection," a collaboration between the Korea Heritage Agency and media art company d'strict, won the Red Dot Design Award in the brand and communication design category. This project drew around 470,000 visitors during its run in Gangneung, Gangwon Province, Jeju Island, and Las Vegas.

The exhibition is directed by design expert Kang Shin-jae, who has overseen events like the 2023 Jinju Traditional Craft Biennale and the Korea Pavilion at Milan Design Week 2022. Curator Lee Dong-hoon, known for his work on the Hanji House's exhibition "From Origin to Wish" earlier this year, has played a key role in shaping the exhibition’s vision.

Admission to the exhibition is free, and reservations can be made on the official website www.kh.or.kr starting on Wednesday. Don't miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in Korea's rich heritage and experience it in a way like never before!
