Expansion Announcement for Brasov Segment of Transilvanica Long-Distance Trail Crossing Romania, Via Transilvanica Update Revealed

Stroll across Romania like never before with Terra Borza Teutonica, the latest extension of the popular Via Transilvanica trail. Kicking off in Viscri, this central Romania gem is renowned for its UNESCO-listed fortified church and popular getaway for King Charles III.

The Via Transilvanica trail traverses ten counties, including Brasov, and is divided into seven cultural-historical regions. Once the expansion is completed, it will cover approximately 170 kilometers, providing a captivating journey through untouched landscapes and diverse cultural hotspots.

The extension will cross 14 administrative units in Brasov county, including Bunes̆ti, Jibert, Şoarş, Ticuş, Mândra, Şercaia, Şinca, Şinca Nouă, Poiana Mărului, Zărneşti, Moieciu, Bran, Râşnov, and Brasov. While technical details are still underway, the aim is to connect all historical regions of Romania to the existing trail, promoting a nationwide network for hiking, cycling, and horse riding.

Works in Viscri mark the beginning of the extended trail's development, with the ultimate goal of revitalizing local communities, much like the established trail already accomplishes by drawing over 30,000 hikers each year. Tășuleasa Social Association, the project's initiators, have been diligently working on this 20-year strategy to create an unparalleled hiking experience that connects the rich history, landscapes, and communities of Romania.

Via Transilvanica, an undertaking by Tășuleasa Social, boasts 12 UNESCO World Heritage Sites and showcases the breathtaking beauty of Romania. Starting in Bucovina and ending at Drobeta Turnu Severin, near the Danube shore, this trail has become a global sensation, earning recognitions such as the Public Choice Award of the European Heritage Awards and the Citizens' Engagement and Awareness-raising category of the same awards. Marked by signposts and individually carved andesite milestones, Via Transilvanica promises an unforgettable trek through Romania's heart and soul. Make sure to keep an eye on updates as the expansion continues to flourish, transforming Romania into an extensive network that connects historical regions and showcases the country's stunning beauty.
