Our session kicked off just like usual – warm welcome, bevvy in hand, tools galore. This class proved to be even longer than anticipated based on the ample array of goodies ahead. First up was fondant, an essential for those delicate fairy platforms, charming fairy garden signs, whimsical mushrooms, and charismatic caterpillars.
Amelia truly shone during the mushroom sculpting phase, focusing on that crafty skillset of hers. With Jennie leading the way, our mushrooms transformed into timeless treasures. Next, we tackled brand-new edible markers to customize our caterpillar faces.
Ah, the butterflies and flowers followed – delicately positioned on foam to catch the breezy illusion. After that, it was time for the grand finale: the fairy herself. Now, I won't lie, I wasn't feeling super confident about capturing that adorable fairy charm with our inexperience in character creation. That said, Jennie broke it down nicely, helping us sectionally craft the body, limbs, neck, dress, head, and tresses – yes, that handy leaf tool doubled as hair! Amelia, ever rebellious, went rogue and sculpted her own fairy using fondant like playdough – a delight to behold!
Let me tell ya, Sweet Designs by Jennie knows how to make an educational cake decorating session feel like a chill hang with friends. Sadly, this time we were the newbies, but by the class's end, we'd formed some lovely new relationships. Cupcake creations aside, it's simply a fantastic way to spend quality time together!
