Mayor Martin Stoiber Kicks Off Cham's Spring Festival With Hofmark Brewery's Fest Beer

In a thrilling start to this year's Spring Festival in Cham, Germany, Mayor Martin Stoiber tapped the first keg of fest beer from the Hofmark Brewery in Loifling on Wednesday evening. The traditional beer flowed after an eighth strike, marking the official opening of the festivities.

The normally straightforward procedure proved a bit challenging for Stoiber this time, as the fest beer initially refused to flow after three, five, and seven attempts. Nevertheless, the first mug was successfully filled on the eighth strike, much to the delight of onlookers.

Despite a few construction vehicles blocking the entrance to Cham Market Square, the rain held off during the procession to the festival grounds. Cannon shots from the Loifling Cannon Shooters signaled the start of the festival, and the grounds were adorned with vendors in new locations.

Festival President Christian Ploetz, Festival Manager Jürgen Schützenmeister, and Mayor Stoiber welcomed festival-goers in the festival tent and on the festival grounds. They extended their gratitude to everyone involved in the preparations and wished everyone a wonderful five-day Spring Festival.

The festivities began with food and drinks served at the tables, a spinning white beer carousel, children's rides, and the enticing aroma of freshly roasted almonds. The Froschhaxn Express set the party mood with an upbeat atmosphere.
