The City of Barrie's Fall Garden Series is currently underway, offering a series of informative sessions aimed at gardeners of all ages and skill levels. The programme, aptly named 'no green thumb required', is designed to help residents get the most out of their gardens.

The sessions are being led by Kim Keckes, a local farmer from Moondance Organic Farm. Keckes is guiding attendees through the ins and outs of maximizing garden yield. The series, held at the Lampman Community Garden, is located at 59 Lampman Lane.

One of the upcoming sessions is titled "Planting your Fall Garden", scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 25, from 1:30pm-2:30pm. Pre-registration is mandatory to secure a spot, and RSVP is required. This session will provide valuable tips on planting for the fall season.

Another session, "What to Harvest, When!", takes place on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 1:30pm-2:30pm. As with the other sessions, pre-registration is required. This session will offer guidance on identifying ready-to-harvest crops and determining the best times to pick crops.

The series also includes a session on seed saving for the following year, titled "Seed Saving for 2026", scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 23, from 2pm.-3pm. Pre-registration is required for this session as well.

One of the highlights of the series is the session titled "Planting Garlic 101", scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 16, from 1:30pm-2:30pm. As with the other sessions, RSVP is required to secure a spot. This session will provide valuable tips on planting garlic and extending the growing season.

Some of the sessions in the Fall Garden Series are first come, first serve, with limited spots available. So, it's recommended to register early to avoid disappointment. The series will offer a wealth of knowledge and practical tips to help residents make the most of their gardens this fall.

Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting out, the Fall Garden Series is a great opportunity to learn, share, and grow. Don't miss out on this fantastic programme. Register today!
