Gathering of artistic spirits and local camaraderie - "Stichtag" in Hünfeld

The city of Hünfeld, Germany, is gearing up to host the fourth annual Stichtag event from August 15th to 17th, 2025. Known for its focus on sewing, crafting, and DIY projects, this gathering transforms the town into the "sewing capital of Germany."

At the heart of this event are Sandra Kanther and Tanja Hahner, the organizers behind Nähdels, the company responsible for bringing the Stichtag to life. Sandra, a resident of Hünfeld, and Tanja, from Nüsttal, have shown their commitment to fostering the sewing community in Hünfeld. Their contributions to the event are significant, but detailed biographies of the duo were not readily available in the search results.

Throughout the three-day event, visitors can expect a variety of activities and workshops. On Friday and Saturday, new sewing machines, plotters, and new techniques will be available for testing. Workshops with professionals will be held in the town hall, and some paid workshops are still available for purchase at www.naehdels.de.

The main attraction, however, is the second world record attempt for the longest chain of fabric scraps, which will take place on Saturday at the Stichtag in the Lokschuppen. The event will also feature exhibitors showcasing their latest products in the Old Lokschuppen.

For those looking for a more relaxed experience, the Hünfelder Handmade Market will take place on Sunday, August 17th, offering ten handmade exhibitors for visitors to explore. Entry to the Handmade Market is free, making it accessible to all.

For a small fee, visitors can also attend the Stichtag event on Sunday for a discounted entry of 10 euros, including access to interactive areas. On the same day, a whisky tasting can be enjoyed at 6 PM in the Stiftsgewölbe, for which tickets can be purchased through the Schlitzer Destillerie.

In addition, the city of Hünfeld will offer discount actions in shops on Friday and Saturday during the event. Tickets for the Saturday evening party in the Museum Modern Art can be purchased at the box office.

With the anticipated attendance of more than 700 sewing enthusiasts, visitors from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy, and the presence of many bloggers from all over Germany, the Stichtag event promises to be a vibrant and engaging celebration of sewing culture.
