Göttingen's Public Transport Gets Colorful with Rainbow Bus Launch

Göttingen's public transport is set to become more colourful and inclusive. The local transport company, Göttingen Verkehrs- und Bus GmbH (GöVB), is introducing a rainbow-coloured bus to celebrate diversity and tolerance. This eye-catching addition will hit the streets on August 26, 2025, and will be in service every day of the year, reaching thousands of passengers daily.

The GöVB, which employs 470 people from over 20 different nations, is committed to diversity. This is reflected not only in its workforce but also in its initiatives like the Rainbow Bus. The bus will serve as a visible symbol of the city's inclusivity, promoting understanding and acceptance among its residents and visitors.

The GöVB and the city of Göttingen have signed the 'Charter of Diversity', further demonstrating their dedication to promoting and utilising diversity within and outside the city administration. This charter encourages an open and inclusive environment, respecting and valuing the diverse backgrounds of all individuals. In a similar move, the city administration of Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB) has also joined the Charter of Diversity, with the collaboration occurring by the end of August, although the specific year is not mentioned in the excerpt.

The introduction of the Rainbow Bus is more than just a new mode of transport; it's a statement of Göttingen's commitment to diversity and inclusivity. With the bus in service 365 days a year, it will serve as a constant reminder of the city's dedication to these values, reaching and inspiring thousands of people daily.
