India's Infrastructure Transformation: Smart Cities, Renewables, and PM Gati Shakti

India is transforming its infrastructure landscape at a rapid pace, with a focus on sustainable, futuristic development. The government has launched several initiatives, including the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme and the PM Gati Shakti programme, to overhaul transport infrastructure and create 'Smart Cities'.

The National Industrial Corridor Development Programme aims to build new industrial cities in the form of 'Smart Cities' along 11 corridors across India. This ambitious project is part of India's efforts to accommodate the soaring urban population, expected to reach over 600 million by 2030.

India's infrastructure development, which started late in the last century, has seen tremendous change in the last 10-12 years. The transition towards renewable energy, with a focus on solar and wind power, is gaining momentum. Future-proof fibre-optic broadband networks are also being laid across the country, with an emphasis on last-mile connectivity.

The 100 Smart Cities Mission, launched in 2015, is developing smart cities using sustainable and citizen-friendly solutions. The office leasing space demand is expected to touch 30 million square feet in seven major cities by 2025, registering a significant increase from 2021.

India's infrastructure landscape is evolving rapidly, with a strong focus on sustainability and futuristic development. The government's initiatives, coupled with private sector investments like the Deep Tech Alliance and the 20,000 crore rupee guarantee fund, are set to drive this growth. The PM Gati Shakti programme ensures timely, cost-effective, and efficient implementation of these projects, positioning India as a global leader in infrastructure development.
