In the picturesque Altmark region of Germany, the charming town of Kalbe is set to host the International Summer Campus, a six-week cultural extravaganza running until August 31st. Organised by Artist City Kalbe, this event aims to revitalise the city and breathe new life into its historic buildings.

The cultural courtyard, a central hub for the Summer Campus, will serve as a vibrant hub for workshops, studio tours, cinema, bike tours, and the open art stage. This year, 24 scholars from ten countries, including Japan, South Korea, Poland, India, France, and more, have been awarded scholarships to participate in the event.

The scholars will be implementing a variety of art projects during their stay in Kalbe, showcasing their talents in painting, literature, music, and installation art. A highlight of the Summer Campus is the Bench Festival on August 2nd, which will take place in the old town, adding a touch of festivity to the event.

One of the buildings being renovated and revitalised during the Summer Campus is the old courthouse. The association, founded in 2013 with a focus on revitalising one of Germany's least populated regions through art and culture, is gradually restoring the courthouse and two other buildings in Kalbe.

The public can view the scholars' art projects during Saturday afternoon studio tours, with the cultural courtyard serving as a central location for the scholars' work to be presented to the public as a workplace and presentation space. The Summer Campus events will take place in the buildings that have been empty for several years in the city of Kalbe, adding a sense of excitement and anticipation to the community.

For those seeking a deeper insight into the recipients of the scholarships, further information can be found on the official website of the International Summer Campus or by contacting the organisers directly. This year's Summer Campus promises to be a unique and immersive experience, showcasing the best of international art and culture in the heart of Kalbe.

At the International Summer Campus, attendees will not only engage in workshops and tours but also witness the implementation of various art projects, focusing on painting, literature, music, and installation art by the 24 scholars from ten countries. This event, set in the authorities' restored buildings, including the old courthouse, seeks to blend art, culture, and lifestyle, encouraging a unique outdoor-living experience amidst the home-and-garden setting, fostering a vibrant community policy in the charming town of Kalbe.
