In Kransnoyarsk, the launch of a new automated fare collection system for public transportation took place. This system is expected to make journeys more convenient and will be integrated with the metrotram. The Triolka system emerged victorious.

Introducing "Trinity Card" in Krasnoyarsk

Revamped Article:

In the heart of Siberia, Krasnoyarsk, the long-awaited auction for a new, automated ticketing and fare collection system took place. The winner of this technological battle was OOO "SberTroika" – an IT company renowned for its Troika system in Moscow. It's no secret that a similar system is already in operation in nearby Novosibirsk.

One might assume the reason for switching to this new solution is in anticipation of the upcoming metro opening. It's cheaper and more straightforward than developing a new payment system – the city is geared towards terminal-based transactions but not turnstiles.

The purchasing party was the state-owned company "Krasnoyarstrottptrans." The selection committee took the time to evaluate three proposals.

The initial contract price hovered around 364 million rubles, but the victorious troika dropped it down to 308 million.

The funding for the project will reportedly be sourced from revenues generated from passenger transport services.

What's this system all about?

According to the procurement documents, the new system is a program-hardware complex that integrates all possible methods of fare collection:

  • Transport cards (including virtual ones),
  • Social cards,
  • Bank cards,
  • QR codes via mobile applications,
  • Cash.

What changes for passengers?

Credit card payments (bank, social, transport) will be made the traditional way – by swiping the card at the terminal. Nothing too historic there.

The mobile application is set to launch as well. This will allow users to generate virtual transit cards, top them up, pay fares via QR codes, and even track their travel history, card balances, and receive electronic receipts for each trip. Passengers will also have access to their account history through a personal account or the mobile app.

Social card holders will be able to automatically enjoy their discounts. The system will calculate the number of free or discounted trips automatically.

The system also includes incentives like loyalty points. The more trips you make within a given period, the higher the discount on subsequent trips.

Inflation Adjustment?

Prices are expected to be adjusted to account for inflation over time.

Integration with Metrotramway

The new system will extend to the future metro as well. Turnstiles in the metrotramway will support all forms of payment, such as cards, QR codes, and more. In the documents, it has been stipulated that the metrotramway will have traditional tokens as well, though their design remains a mystery.

In terms of turnstiles, the "Kontur Yk" from manufacturer OOO "Informatic" is being considered as the base model.

When can you experience Troika in Krasnoyarsk?

According to procurement documents, the system should be up and running within 60 months of the date of the system implementation agreement.

However, the contract with Moscow hasn't even been signed yet. The contract approval was only signed on May 7th, with more bureaucratic hurdles likely ahead.

Even post launch, passengers in Krasnoyarsk will still have the option to use both existing ticketing methods – the traditional transportation card and the new, Moscow-styled counterpart.

In the dynamic realm of news, this development in Krasnoyarsk marks a significant shift in lifestyle and home-and-garden sphere, as the city installs an advanced transportation system that includes options like transport cards, social cards, bank cards, QR codes via mobile applications, and cash payments. Furthermore, travelers will soon enjoy enhanced services with the launch of a mobile application, enabling them to generate virtual transit cards, track their travel history, and even collect loyalty points.
