Local Authority Opens New Cycling Route on Löberstraße
The local municipal traffic authority has opened a section of Löberstraße to cyclists in the opposite direction, connecting an existing route between the city park and the station via Goethestraße. This move aims to strengthen the east-west cycling axis and improve safety for cyclists.
Previously, cyclists had to navigate through busy Bismarckstraße and Lonystraße to pass through. Now, they can use the newly opened section of Löberstraße, which also serves as an escape route for motor vehicle traffic. To ensure safety, the right-before-left rule applies, and visibility at the Goethestraße intersection has been improved.
To accommodate this change, parking spaces on Goethestraße have been moved, and resident parking spaces gained from adapting escape routes in Löberstraße will be set up in Lonystraße. Additionally, the one-way street section on Alienstraße has been opened to support the cycling axis. Other measures include a central island for crossing Berliner Platz, a cycle street in Roonstraße, and a signalized crossing of Frankfurter Straße at Alienstraße.
These changes are expected to enhance cycling connectivity and safety in the area, encouraging more people to choose cycling as a mode of transport. Motor vehicle traffic escape routes have been ensured, and resident parking spaces have been reorganised to accommodate these improvements.
