Longtime jewelry museum director succumbs to death.
Veteran Jewelry Museum Director Cornelie Holzach Retires after 29 Years
Long-serving jewellery museum director, Cornelie Holzach, is set to retire on April 1st, after an almost three-decade tenure at the Jewelry Museum and the Technical Museum Pforzheim. A send-off reception was held at Reuchlinhaus to commemorate the occasion, with numerous colleagues and associates in attendance.
Mayor Peter Boch lauded Holzach's "unwavering dedication" during the event, citing several projects and nearly a hundred exhibitions she oversaw during her tenure. Boch noted that Holzach's efforts had elevated the Jewelry Museum Pforzheim to the status of a "leading global museum" with an exceptional collection.
Alongside the Mayor, speeches were made by Birgitta Hafner, Florian Kollmar, Claudia Baumbusch, Isabel Schmidt-Mappes, Christine Luedeke, and Andreas Gut. Cultural Mayor Tobias Volle reflected the sentiments, acknowledging that Holzach's work played a crucial role in shaping the city's cultural landscape and ensuring it remained accessible for future generations.
Holzach, in her public address, thanked her colleagues and expressed faith in the future under her successor, Friderike Zobel.
Holzach, a goldsmith by trade, joined the Jewelry Museum in 1997 after completing her jewelry design studies at the University of Applied Sciences Pforzheim. During her 29-year journey, she curated numerous thematically diverse exhibitions, expanded the permanent collection with historical-to-contemporary jewellery, and established key global contacts.
Following Fritz Falk's retirement in 2005, Holzach took over as the museum's director, having served as his acting successor the previous year. Since 2007, she also oversaw the Technical Museum of the Pforzheim jewelry and clock industry.
The retirement of Holzach marks a new era for the Jewelry Museum, renowned for its extensive collection spanning five millennia. Under the leadership of Friderike Zobel, the museum is expected to continue its mission of promoting jewellery as an art form and medium for cultural expression, focusing on curating exhibitions and expanding collections.
In her honorable retirement, Cornelie Holzach, the veteran jewelry museum director, will leave behind a lasting impact on the home-and-garden of her extensive contributions to the Jewelry Museum and the Technical Museum Pforzheim. Her lifestyle of dedication towards the field, including curating numerous thematic exhibitions and expanding the permanent collection, has transformed the museum into a leading global home-and-garden for jewelry art and cultural expression.
