The Avid EVO TWO, a new flagship speaker from British hi-fi firm Avid, has been unveiled as part of the company's 30th anniversary celebrations. This high-end audiophile speaker system is designed to deliver exceptional performance in larger rooms, particularly those with less rigid wall constructions, a common scenario in many North American homes.
The 3.5-way speaker system comprises a 28mm hand-coated soft dome tweeter, two 160mm mid-range drivers, and a 250mm low-frequency driver. This configuration allows for a wider dynamic range and a more expansive sound stage, enabling richer and more immersive audio reproduction. The low-end frequency of the Avid EVO TWO extends down to 28Hz, providing enhanced bass response and substantial bass depth and clarity.
In terms of design, the drive units of the Avid EVO TWO are mounted on a rigid anodized aluminum baffle and rear plate. The speaker is available in two finishes: black or gloss white. It is an advancement of the current EVO THREE speakers and will be available in the UK, Europe, and the US.
The price of the Avid EVO TWO remains unchanged at £27,995 / €34,995 / $38,995 (about AU$57,589). This price point reflects the speaker's premium build and audio performance, roughly comparable to the cost of a full-size sedan.
Conrad Mas, in explaining the development of the Avid EVO TWO, states that it was created in response to customer feedback requesting a speaker with great presence, low-end articulation, and the clarity and openness characteristic of the EVO series. The Avid EVO TWO will be available through authorized dealers from September 2025.
