In the quaint town of Schashagen, several exciting developments are underway. Here's a rundown of the latest news:

Communal Heat Planning

Mayor Rainer Holtz has announced a collaboration with the Ostholstein Association (ZVO) and the Ostholstein district for communal heat planning. The aim is to develop strategies for efficient and sustainable heating systems at a community level, with a focus on renewable energy sources and energy-efficient technologies.

In rural areas like Schashagen, communal heat planning might focus on using local biomass for heating or integrating solar panels into existing infrastructure. A survey will be conducted within the community to assess the current heating situation of individual residents.

Fire Protection

Mayor Holtz also stated that, in extreme cases, mandatory fire service may be enforced. Fire protection in Schashagen is the responsibility of the community, with regular inspections ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations.

Events such as fire drills and the maintenance of fire safety equipment are key components of the town's fire protection efforts. The potential location for these events could be the new fire equipment house in Klein Schlamin.

Senior Council

The FWV faction has requested a discussion on the long-term direction of tourism in Schashagen, considering it an important economic factor. Simultaneously, they are assessing the status quo and developing a vision to strengthen Schashagen as a tourist destination.

Rainer Holtz has suggested the name "social council" for the proposed senior council, which would support the well-being and integration of older residents. The council could coordinate events such as excursions, game afternoons, village walks, lectures, or beach festivals.

Tourism Development

The FWV faction is also working on tourism development, focusing on showcasing local history, cultural events, and natural landscapes. Efforts could include developing hiking trails, promoting local cuisine, and creating cultural festivals.

The public meeting in Merkendorf's multi-purpose hall was a success, with all seats filled. The meeting agenda included discussions on communal heat planning, mandatory fire service, senior council establishment, and tourism development.

Recruitment efforts have been increased for the fire service in 2018, addressing the issue of many fire service members reaching the age limit and leaving active service, creating a critical situation regarding deployment strength.

Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting developments in Schashagen!
