Marburg's Public Library

In the heart of Marburg, the library has been a cherished institution for education, culture, and social interaction. A recent survey, conducted as part of a Europe-wide public library user survey, has revealed overwhelmingly positive feedback about the library's offerings.

Councilwoman Kirsten Dinnebier, who plans to align the library's offerings more with the needs of visitors based on the survey results, expressed her satisfaction with the results. A remarkable 94% of respondents appreciate the Marburg City Library as a trustworthy, forward-looking place that promotes education and culture.

The survey participants were not shy about sharing their suggestions for improvements. They expressed a desire for enhancements in seating furniture, lighting, and learning offerings and events. For instance, they suggested longer opening hours on Saturdays, evenings beyond 6:30 PM, opening on Wednesday afternoons, more mornings, and Mondays.

For children, the library offers a variety of engaging activities such as picture book cinemas, interactive theater, gaming afternoons, and diverse reading promotion offers in cooperation with kindergartens and schools. Adults, on the other hand, can enjoy readings, exhibitions, and game evenings.

The survey participants found the library staff to be friendly, helpful, and competent, with over 93% expressing their satisfaction. Most participants (81%) find their sought-after media relatively easily in the library, and around 78% find sufficient media for their interests.

The quality of the event offerings for both adults (76%) and children (95%) was also well-received. However, the survey did not explicitly name the person responsible for implementing the wishes, criticism, and suggestions of users of the Marburg city library.

Looking ahead, the library will make digital offers more accessible this year through an update to the Onleihe software. A more detailed summary of the Sentobib survey for the Marburg City Library is available as a PDF document 'Summary Sentobib' on the city's website.

The Marburg City Library continues to be a central place for education, culture, inspiration, and social interaction, and the council is committed to making it even better based on the valuable feedback received from the community.
