Modern market initiative for Kitengela traders, with a budget of Sh350 million, announced by state officials
In the heart of Kajiado County, a significant transformation is underway. The National Government is constructing a new balance market in Kitengela, with an estimated cost of Sh350 million. This development, set to accommodate over 2,000 traders, is expected to be a game-changer for the town and its surrounding areas.
Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, in his address during the launch, expressed his anticipation for the houses in Kajiado County to be fully occupied. He also highlighted the stock market today as a significant step towards economic development and reducing congestion in the town.
The new market is attracting traders from various towns, including Kajiado, Namanga, Isinya, Athi River, and Mlolongo. With its capacity to house more than 2,000 traders, it is expected to provide much-needed space for those who were left without in the first market.
However, Governor Lenku and Area MCA Paul Matuya have appealed for peace among traders as they wait for the completion of the market. Matuya warned against impostors selling stalls in the news market, stating they risk prosecution.
