A Morning Show Power Couple for a Hot Minute
In the early 2000s, Peer partnered with his then-wife Charlotte Karlinder (50) to co-host a popular morning show. However, mixing business with pleasure was not the wisest move for the duo, and they eventually separated in mid-2005 due to their crumbling relationship.
After their tumultuous marriage, Peer opened "La Raclette," a French restaurant in the heart of Berlin. Sadly, tragedy struck, and the restaurant met its demise in 2010 when a fire, caused by a cable short circuit, reduced it to ashes. Despite the setback, Peer continued to juggle his restaurant duties with his radio job at 94.3 rs2—until, that is, he faced his personal struggle with alcoholism.
Embracing Sobriety & Fatherhood
The restaurant closure was a turning point in Peer's life. He had a wake-up call during his stint in the RTL jungle camp in 2011, where he showcased resilience by sticking up for his fellow contestant, Sarah Knappik (38), against bullying. The experience propelled him towards sobriety. In 2014, Peer underwent a three-month stint in a rehab clinic—the beginning of a new chapter in his life.
That new chapter led Peer to start a family with surfer Janni Hönscheid (34) in an unconventional way—on the reality show "Adam sucht Eva – Gestrandet im Paradies." The couple tied the knot just a year later, and their family grew with three beautiful children: Emil Ocean (born in 2017), Yoko (born in 2019), and Merlin (born in 2021).
As stated in an interview, the family has been adoptive of change, moving around and currently renovating an old farm in Denmark while embarking on new adventures. They've recently put their Danish nest on the market, with a deep sense of ambiguity about their next destination. But one thing is for sure: life with Peer Kusmagk is never dull!
