Non-profit organization Purple Heart Homes and The Home Depot Foundation commemorate their 1,000th joint venture by conducting renovations for an Army veteran in Villa Rica, marking a significant milestone in their service to veterans.

In a heartwarming milestone, Purple Heart Homes and The Home Depot Foundation have completed their 1,000th project together. This partnership, which began in 2012, has been a beacon of hope for thousands of U.S. veterans.

Based in Statesville, N.C., Purple Heart Homes is a nonprofit organization co-founded by two combat-wounded Veterans in 2008. The organization's mission is to provide safe, barrier-free housing solutions for qualified Veterans, offering programs like critical home repairs and renovations, home ownership programs, and transitional housing through partnerships with other nonprofit organizations.

The Home Depot Foundation, a nonprofit supported by The Home Depot (NYSE: HD), shares a similar mission. Focusing on improving the homes and lives of U.S. veterans and supporting communities impacted by natural disasters, the foundation has aimed to donate $750 million in veteran causes by 2030 and $50 million in training the next generation of skilled tradespeople through the Path to Pro program by 2028.

One of the latest projects, conducted in Villa Rica, Georgia, aimed to improve the life of U.S. Army Veteran Wendell Hill. The project, which was completed at the end of September 2025, included rebuilding the north wall of the home, widening doorways for wheelchair access, repairing flooring and plumbing, and underpinning the house. Volunteers also assembled patio furniture and a grill, completed essential maintenance projects, and landscaped the property.

For the first time since 2024, Hill was able to leave his bedroom without barriers after the project. The celebration took place on September 17, 2025, and was attended by dozens of volunteers from Team Depot. This project is one of hundreds happening during The Home Depot Foundation's Celebration of Service, an annual veterans service campaign.

Purple Heart Homes supports service-connected disabled and senior Veterans across all 50 states and Puerto Rico through a growing network of local chapters. The partnership between Purple Heart Homes and The Home Depot Foundation extends across a variety of initiatives, including the Tiny Home Program. Since 2011, The Home Depot Foundation has invested over $550 million in veteran causes and improved more than 65,000 veteran homes and facilities. The foundation has also invested over $600 million in Veteran causes since 2011 and aims to donate $750 million by 2030.

This 1,000th project marks a significant achievement in the journey of both organizations, as they continue to make a difference in the lives of U.S. veterans.
