"Now part of our vehicles, a Porsche has been added"
In a heartwarming collaboration, ten Porsche apprentices from various areas have constructed a new food truck for Harry's Bude, a Stuttgart-based organisation dedicated to rescuing food from the market and distributing it to those in need.
The food truck, resembling a mobile ice cream stand with its sunroof, was handed over to Harry Pfau by the Porsche apprentices and representatives of the Suppoptimal initiative on Wednesday morning. The vehicle, now part of Harry Pfau's fleet that includes a handcart, a pallet jack, and a cargo bike, will be used for distributing rescued food and educating schools about food waste.
The apprentices designed a three-dimensional construction model, milled and turned parts, welded, painted, and wrapped the parts to create this unique mobile stand. Eighteen-year-old Linus van Treeck, one of the apprentices, expressed that working on the project helped him progress.
The food truck, dubbed the 'Harry's Food Truck' truck, was built with 700 work hours of dedication and investment by the Porsche apprentices. The idea for the Harry's Food Truck came about during volunteer shifts of Porsche employees at Harry's Bude.
Harry Pfau, the food rescuer, expressed his joy over the new food truck, calling it a 'deployment vehicle'. The new 'bude' allows him to carry out special actions and hold events at schools about food waste. A Bimini roof protects the wagon and those working with it from sun and rain.
The food truck was used as a reception desk for a 'rescue dinner' during the test phase and was directly employed by Suppoptimal's employees during the subsequent event at the Marienkirche. Harry Pfau has been rescuing and distributing food in Stuttgart for almost five years, and the food truck will be used at both Harry's Bude and 'supp_optimal Essen für alle' actions.
The food truck now has space for rescued food, boxes, bags, or even a sink. The organisation that supported the apprentices from Porsche in the project of the mobile stand for the food rescuer Harry Pfau was 'Handwerkskammer Ludwigsburg'.
Harry Pfau's 'bude' at St. Maria in the city center has become a beacon of hope, rescuing and distributing food to those in need and educating the community about food waste. The food truck will undoubtedly continue to play a significant role in this mission.
