Layla Al-Ani Transforms Her Bathroom Doors with a Cost-Effective Oak Hack
Layla Al-Ani, a content creator known for her home renovation projects, has shared her latest transformation – a budget-friendly oak door hack for her bathroom. Instead of investing in new oak doors, Layla decided to enhance the existing ones, saving a significant amount of money.
To achieve this look, Layla began by painting two coats of Frenchic Crème de la Crème Lazy Range, a chalk paint with a matte finish, as the base color for the oak effect. She then prepared the doors by thoroughly sanding them and applying a coat of primer.
The Frenchic browning wax was the secret ingredient to creating an authentic oak look. Layla applied one coat of the wax, waiting until it became tacky before wiping off or peeling away the excess using a kitchen roll or cloth. This method emphasizes enhancing the existing wood grain, creating the appearance of rich oak without the need to replace the doors.
Layla recommend working on one-third of the door at a time and wiping off the excess wax before moving to the next section. A minimum of 45 minutes is required between each coat of wax, and two coats are recommended for the desired look.
To complete the look, Layla installed a Hiatt Hardware Antique Brass Spring Ringed Mortice Door Knob and a Solid Brass Door Sign from Etsy. The light shade of the Frenchic Crème de la Crème Lazy Range helps give the wood grain a more authentic look without appearing flat.
Layla's 1960s semi-detached home has been transformed to resemble a modern farmhouse, and this oak door hack is just one of the many impressive changes she's made.
