International Creative Industries Festival to Discuss Architecture and Cultural Heritage
The International Creative Industries Festival, a week-long event taking place in the Sverdlovsk region from August 18 to 24, will host a series of events under the "Architecture" track at the Simanov House venue on August 23.
The "Architecture" track will focus on preserving cultural heritage while creating something new, giving life to old buildings, and infusing new meanings into industrial areas. The track will discuss the development of the VIZ district, the city pond embankment, and the future of Vainer Street.
Notable participants in the "Architecture" track include Alexander Dolgov, rector of the Ural State Architecture and Art University, Svetlana Malevich, leading architect-restorer of the "Bryusniki" group's special projects, and Anna Akimova, creative producer of art residencies at the Ural Industrial Biennale.
The main panel discussion on "Regional Priorities in Preserving Cultural Heritage" will include specialists in heritage preservation and territorial development, such as Irène Kommo-Demidova, a philologist, architect-restorer, and honorary member of the International Demidov Foundation, Narine Tjutcheva, founder of the "Rzhevka" bureau, and Ksenia Titova, an expert in spatial development and tourist master planning.
In addition to panel discussions, an interactive inclusive exhibition titled "Preservation of OCN and Prospects for Creating New Architectural Heritage" will be held at the Simanov House during the "Architecture" track. A trade session with booths will also be organized for brands participating in the creative industries festival.
Valery Pilichev, director of the Sverdlovsk Regional Fund for Entrepreneurship Support, stated that Architecture is one of the largest creative industries in the Sverdlovsk region. However, the International Creative Industries Festival has not specified the role of city and regional administrations in the events of the "Architecture" track.
The program for the International Creative Industries Festival can be viewed on the project's website. It is important to note that there is currently no specific information available regarding the number of participants or other events in the "Architecture" track. For the most accurate and updated program, it is recommended to check the official festival website or contact the event organizers directly.
