Ostheim v.d. Rhön, a picturesque town known for its air cure, gourmet offerings, and commitment to protecting the night, is set to host a series of unique stargazing events this summer. Among these events is a special initiative aimed at making the night sky accessible to individuals with mobility impairments.

General Sternenpark Tours

During the summer holidays, the Sternenpark Rhön in Ostheim v.d. Rhön will offer guided stargazing sessions for families, adults, and anyone interested in astronomy and nature. Participants can look forward to using telescopes, learning about celestial objects, and enjoying storytelling about the natural night environment. The tours are suitable for all, taking place at the Sternenpark, with participants settling on their brought-along seating.

"Stargazing for People with Mobility Impairments" Event

Recognizing the importance of inclusivity, a new event, "Stargazing for People with Mobility Impairments," will take place on July 27th, from 9:30 pm to 11 pm at the Segelflugplatz on the Büchig. This event is designed to cater to individuals with limited mobility, with accessible locations equipped for wheelchairs, adapted telescopes or viewing equipment, and specialized guides providing tailored explanations and assistance.

For exact tour dates, times, booking procedures, and accessibility accommodations, it's best to contact the Sternenpark Rhön visitor center or the local tourist information office in Ostheim v.d. The number of participants for the event is limited to 30, and early registration is recommended. Participants can admire stars, learn interesting facts, and enjoy a regional picnic during the tours, with vegetarian options available upon request.

Other Stargazing Events

In addition to the special event, Ostheim v.d. Rhön will host several other stargazing events during the summer holidays. The "Stars on - Lean back - Enjoy" events will take place on July 26th and August 2nd, from 9 pm to 12 am, while the "Lights out - Stars on" event will take place on July 25th and August 1st, also from 9 pm to 12 am. These events will start from the parking lot and campervan parking area at the Streuwiese.

Each event is led by experienced Sternenpark guide Anja Johannes, promising an unforgettable evening under the stars. Early registration is strongly encouraged to secure a spot.

Ostheim v.d. Rhön's dedication to protecting the night sky results in exceptionally clear and dark skies, making it an ideal location for stargazing. Whether you're a seasoned astronomer or a curious beginner, these events offer a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the wonders of the night sky.

These additional events, titled "Stars on - Lean back - Enjoy" and "Lights out - Stars on," will take place on select summer nights in Ostheim v.d. Rhön. The unique outdoor-living experience will allow participants to lie back and enjoy the celestial show under the clear, dark skies, while learning more about various celestial objects.

Complementing the stargazing events, the town's commitment to home-and-garden practices extends to a regional picnic during these events, with vegetarian options available. This offers all participants a chance to savor the local gourmet offerings while focusing on the night sky.
