Rail Travel Encounters in Lübeck: Firsthand Accounts
On Saturday, September 20, 2025, the "Day of the Rails" is set to take place in Lübeck, offering a unique opportunity to delve into the city's railway history and discover its surroundings. Hosted by Nordic Rail Service GmbH (NRS) at their premises in Lübeck-St. Lorenz Nord, this event promises an exciting day for both railway enthusiasts and casual visitors alike.
From 9 am to 6 pm, the event grounds, located behind the Gollan Kulturwerft, will be filled with a large exhibition featuring locomotives, two-way Unimogs, vintage cars, and detailed H0 scale models. Visitors can expect to see the legendary V200 locomotive and original Reichsbahn travel cars, as a special train ride to Hamburg is planned.
At 3 pm, the new Piko model of the V200 will be officially launched, adding a touch of excitement to the day's events. Railway films and historical exhibits will provide insights into the history and development of the railway, offering a fascinating look into the past.
For those who wish to explore Lübeck and its surroundings, special train rides depart hourly from Lübeck Hauptbahnhof to the workshop and the harbor. Children will have access to a free bouncy castle and the chance to ride a small train, ensuring a fun day for the whole family.
A grill stand, a drinks wagon, and a waffle stand will provide food and drinks, ensuring that everyone stays energized throughout the day. Parking is available at the event, making it easy to attend.
