In a significant move, six benches have been installed in various city squares of Koblenz, as part of the campaign "Against Violence Against Women". The benches, painted a vibrant orange - symbolizing the worldwide action "orange your world - no violence against women" - serve as tangible information and message carriers within the campaign.

The University of Koblenz, the municipal enterprise, the equal opportunities office, and several clubs including Zonta, Soroptimists, Inner Wheel, Lions Club Sophie von Laroche, and Rotary Mittelrhein, have collaborated on this project. The aim is to make a visible and lasting contribution to raising awareness, possibly preventing, and offering help for violence against women in Koblenz.

The benches not only provide additional resting and seating opportunities and places to linger in the city squares but also offer opportunities for conversation and interaction. They are equipped with the helpline number for those who may need immediate assistance.

The handover of the benches was held at a meeting attended by members and supporters of the clubs, the mayor Dr. Andreas Lukas, the municipal enterprise, the equal opportunities office, and the University of Koblenz. A photograph from the event shows several individuals involved, including Dr. Berit Gebel-Sauer, Dr. Andreas Lukas, Gitta Kohnz, Klaus Bücklein (president Rotary Club Koblenz-Mittelrhein), Dr. Beate Reifenscheid (president ZONTA Club Rhein-Mosel), Kim Theisen, Anne Quander (equal opportunities officer University of Koblenz), Prof. Dr. Karl Stoffel (president University of Koblenz), Saskia Scherhag-König, Dr. Margit Theis-Scholz (president ZONTA Club Koblenz), Petra Assenmacher, Iris Kovac-Laue, Verena Wiedenhues (president Soroptimists), Christine Mohr (municipal enterprise green spaces of the city of Koblenz), Dr. Dorothea Wagner, Christa Kröber, Meike Baumann (equal opportunities office of the city of Koblenz) and Alice Berweiler-Kaufmann.

It is important to note that while a recent report by the Federal Criminal Police Office has shown an increase in violent crimes against girls and women nationwide, there are no direct search results detailing a similar increase in Koblenz. However, the initiative for the project in Koblenz states that it aims to address this issue locally and contribute to the prevention and mitigation of violence against women in the city.

For more detailed information about this local initiative in Koblenz, it may be necessary to check local city websites, municipal press releases, or local news outlets.

The collaborative project in Koblenz has expanded beyond the installation of benches in city squares, with a focus on health-and-wellness and women's health. Other social clubs, such as Zonta, Soroptimists, Inner Wheel, Lions Club Sophie von Laroche, and Rotary Mittelrhein, join the University of Koblenz and the municipal enterprise to offer information and resources on health, lifestyle, and home-and-garden topics that encourage a holistic approach to well-being for women. This campaign not only addresses violence against women but also aims to promote overall health and wellness for all women in Koblenz.
