Relics of Tomorrow: A look at upcoming inheritance items of significance
The Heirloom Project, a 2,400 sq ft residence in Bengaluru, is a testament to the design philosophy of Studio Anvaya, headed by Principal Architect Ashwathy CK. The project's design narrative revolves around making family heirlooms a proud part of everyday life.
This approach is evident in the residence's ambiance, which is infused with an aroma of nostalgia, thanks to the collection of weathered pots, sepia-tinted photographs, and revered garments. These heirloom objects, such as archetypal lamps, bowls, and pots, are not just displayed as decorative items but are integrated into the daily life of the family.
Venkat, a chartered accountant, Jayalakshmi, an educator, and Venkat's mother reside in The Heirloom Project, along with two dogs. The design aims to create a crossover between the family's heirlooms and newer additions, ensuring a harmonious blend of old and new within the home.
Ashwathy CK explains, "The design narrative of The Heirloom Project is centred on making heirloom objects a proud part of everyday life. We aim to honour heritage and memory through tangible, functional presence in the residence." By incorporating heirloom objects into everyday life, the family can maintain a strong connection to their past while living comfortably in the present.
In essence, The Heirloom Project is more than just a home; it's a living tribute to the family's heritage and a celebration of their history.
The interior design of The Heirloom Project beautifully merges the family's lifestyle and home-and-garden elements, creating an ambiance where heirloom objects are not only decorative but serve a functional purpose in everyday life. Ashwathy CK's design philosophy aims to not only preserve family heritage but also foster a strong connection to the past while living in the present.
