Contest Information

  • This contest lasts 24 hours, so act swiftly.
  • Ensure your contact information on the entry form is accurate.
  • We will select six winners. If you win, we'll contact you and guide you on submitting your first five pages.
  • Keep your pages prepared, as your name could be drawn. Format it with 1-inch margins, double-spaced, and 12pt Times New Roman font.
  • Supplying a brief synopsis (up to 500 words) is advantageous, as it helps our specialist provide context for her feedback.

📝 Michelle Barker

Michelle, a seasoned editor and writer, has an MFA in creative writing from UBC. She's been a senior editor at The Darling Axe since its inception and boasts expertise in both developmental and line editing. Many of the authors she's worked with have secured publishing contracts and honors for their work.

Her latest book, Story Skeleton: The Classics, co-authored with David Griffin Brown, is available now. They are also the authors of Immersion and Emotion: The Two Pillars of Storytelling. Her novel, My Long List of Impossible Things, was released in 2020 with Annick Press. The House of One Thousand Eyes received numerous awards, including the Amy Mathers Teen Book Award, and was named a Kirkus Best Book of the Year. Her fiction, non-fiction, and poetry have appeared in literary reviews worldwide.
