As the summer heat waves continue to sweep across Germany, the renovation progress of the Otfried Preußler primary schools in Halle-Neustadt and Neustadt remains on schedule.

In Halle-Neustadt, the western Neustadt branch of the school is reportedly progressing according to plan, with no significant delays reported as of July 16, 2025. The city administration has been tight-lipped about the exact duration of the remaining work or specific stages, but updates confirm that work is moving forward as anticipated.

Meanwhile, in Neustadt, a related school renovation project is underway, involving a combination of extensive building refurbishment and new construction phases. Visible progress can be seen on the structural work, with the ground floor of the new building already in view, and finishing touches like painting underway, as of June 19, 2025. This suggests that the exterior renovation stages are nearing completion.

The renovation of the Otfried Preußler primary school in the western Neustadt is being carried out at great expense by the municipality. The city administration has established a system to safely transport the students to the temporary location in Rigaer Straße, Südstadt.

Inside the school buildings, drywall work, screed work, rough installations of technical trades, and roof work are being carried out. Facade work is also being done on the high-rise sections of the school.

Despite the ongoing renovations, the city continues to provide school bus escorts to ensure order and safety during the school bus transport.

The good news is that both schools are on track to be ready for the start of the 2026/27 school year, as previously stated. The city administration remains committed to completing the renovations on time to provide the best learning environment for the more than 500 students currently being taught in the temporary location.

The renovation of the Otfried Preußler primary school in the western Neustadt is expected to provide a enhanced lifestyle for the students, as the city administration is renovating the school thoroughly including drywall work, screed work, and facade work on the high-rise sections. After the completion of the renovation, the students will return to their home-and-garden, the school premises, for the start of the 2026/27 school year.
