Return of the Three-Besson Day!
After a hiatus due to the pandemic, the much-anticipated city-wide spring cleanup, known as "Three Brooms Day," is set to make a comeback. This annual event, a tradition since 2000, has been instrumental in maintaining the city's cleanliness and fostering a sense of community.
Mayor Ursula Baum has expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating, "Three Brooms Day is a fantastic action because many people come together to help." She also emphasized the importance of responsible waste disposal, expressing her hope that there would be no litter left to clean up.
This year, the municipal operations yard is investing approximately 350 working hours to remove trash from the city. However, the mayor encourages spontaneous volunteers to join the spring cleanup, making it a city-wide effort.
The event will commence at designated meeting points across the city. These include Kaarst, Kirchplatz in front of St. Martinus; Holzbüttgen, Marienplatz; Büttgen, schoolyard of Pampusschule; Vorst, church square; and Driesch, Kirmesplatz on the main street. Volunteers will receive gloves, trash bags, and contact numbers upon arrival.
In its early days, "Three Brooms Day" was initiated by the shooting societies and supported by the team from the municipal operations yard. The event has grown over the years to become a symbol of community spirit and civic responsibility.
For those interested in volunteering, local community boards, social media groups, or apps like Nextdoor can be great resources for finding spontaneous opportunities. Additionally, contacting local volunteer centers or community organizations can provide information on upcoming cleanup events.
As the date for "Three Brooms Day" approaches, keep an eye out for updates and join the city in making a difference. Together, we can ensure that our city remains clean and vibrant for all to enjoy.
- Encouraged by the mayor's excitement, those interested in other ways to contribute beyond waste disposal may find opportunities through local community boards, social media groups, or apps like Nextdoor, emphasizing the city-wide home-and-garden lifestyle of fostering cleanliness and community spirit.
- Following the previous success of the event, the annual spring cleanup, Three Brooms Day, is not only a lifestyle choice for maintaining the city's cleanliness but also a chance for participants to embrace the lifestyle trend of community involvement, as they gather at various designated meeting points for a city-wide home-and-garden revitalization endeavor.
