Saves Thousands by Opting for DIY Gutter Cleaning Tools Over Professional Services
In an effort to reduce expenses on professional gutter cleaning, Lauren Bradbury, the Content Editor for the House Manual section since January 2025, has decided to invest in gutter cleaning tools. Over the past five years, Lauren has spent approximately £2,000 on professional gutter cleaning, with costs ranging between £50 and £500, depending on various factors.
For her terraced house in the area, professional gutter cleaning has cost her around £150 per cleaning, up to three times a year. To cut down on these costs, Lauren is considering several DIY gutter cleaning solutions.
One such solution is a Universal Fit Gutter Cleaning Kit for Blowers by Worx, which costs £57.68 on Amazon. This kit is designed to make leaf blower gutter cleaning safer and more efficient. Another option is a pressure washer extension kit, which uses high-pressure water to dislodge debris in gutters, making cleaning easier.
Lauren is also considering a gutter scraper with an extension pole, which allows for ladder-free gutter cleaning, and an affordable gutter cleaning brush with a telescopic handle, requiring no ladder for use. Outlet guards for gutter cleaning are also on her list, as they prevent large debris from entering downpipes.
To make the process even safer, a 50m hose is being considered for rinsing gutters after cleaning. It's important to note that while DIY gutter cleaning can be a cost-effective solution, safety should always be a priority. If DIY gutter cleaning is not safe, professional help should be enlisted.
In addition to the DIY gutter cleaning tools, Lauren is also considering a ladder with a versatile design. The ladder can be used in four different configurations for future DIY tasks. A bucket with a carry handle, costing just £1, is another tool being considered for easy use on the ladder.
Lauren, who is our platform Certified Expert in Training on Vacuums, having spent over 110 hours testing different vacuum models to date, is also considering a gutter brush produced by GutterBrush, a company known for its easy-to-install DIY gutter guard solutions. However, she prefers the look of flat gutter guards.
Glen Peskett from Saxton Blades warns about the dangers of blocked gutters leading to disastrous leaks. He suggests prevention is better than the cure, and using gutter guards is a proactive measure to keep gutters clean and prevent leaking gutters.
In conclusion, by investing in DIY gutter cleaning equipment, Lauren Bradbury aims to save money in the long run while ensuring the safety and efficiency of the gutter cleaning process.
