Sailing Into Laughter: Frank Bahr's Return to Timmendorfer Strand

Mark your calendars, folks! From April 30, 2025, the drinking hall in Timmendorfer Strand welcomes the return of rambunctious giggles with none other than cartoonist Frank Bahr! This Baltic coast gem will again be graced with his irreverent humor and northern German charm.

Behold, a jaw-dropping display of 52 framed cartoons, boasting 30 brand-new pieces making their public debut! The lineup will also feature large-format and countless additional oil paintings, leaving you belly-laughing from wall to wall. From seagulls donning sunglasses and salty sailors in peculiar predicaments to penguins sunbathing on the beach - Frank Bahr paints a leisurely life seascape with a few deft strokes.

"Many of my ideas flourish right on the deck of my sailboat, out there where the waves inspire me," shares the artist. His trademark seagulls, with their goofy grins and quirky antics, will surely steal your heart.

Swing by from 10 am daily, as the exhibition runs gleefully until June 10. Fancy a piece of art to call your own? You can purchase all exhibited pieces, calendars, posters, and postcards on-site. Better yet, Frank Bahr himself will be present, ready for a chat and to sign his masterpieces at your request.

Born in Stuttgart, 1969, and currently residing in Scharbeutz, just a stone's throw from the beach, Frank Bahr has been a freelance caricaturist gracing the satire magazine Eulenspiegel, various daily newspapers, and book and calendar publishers. His coastal humor and keen-eyed view of the sea give his work a cheerful yet incisive touch.

Fancy a side of Bahr's humor in a larger-than-life format? You'll find some of his works displayed in XXL format in the Strandpark Timmendorfer Strand, mounted on steel frames. A humorous take on life, these large cartoons invite a thoughtful, chuckle-filled reflection.

Stay tuned for updates on future exhibitions. To catch Frank Bahr's humorous and insightful artwork, keep an eye on local art event listings and watch out for announcements from relevant museums or art spaces. Laughing's never been so easy! (PM/rk)
