Sketching Session with Hitesh Katiyar
In a recent workshop, participants gained valuable insights into the language of communicating and representing ideas through orthographic projections of plane, sections, and elevations. The event, facilitated by Hitesh Katiyar, aimed to help students explore the various aspects of space and understand the layout and positioning of objects/elements.
Hitesh Katiyar, an architect with industry experience in varied projects, guided the workshop. He has worked with some of the most competent professionals in the field, including Mahmoud Bodo Rasch, Ambrish Arora, Itu Chaudhuri, Manit Rastogi, Virendra Wakhloo, and most recently, Theodore Spyropoulos. Katiyar holds a Masters in Architecture and Urbanism from the Architectural Association School of Architecture, London.
The objective of the workshop was to translate text from Italo Calvino's 'Invisible Cities' into visuals using sketches and eventually orthographic drawings. Orthographic drawing or projection involves artistically rendering single or multiple views of a 3D object on a 2D plane.
The number of views in orthographic drawings usually ranges between three to six. The parent (front) view is the most important in orthographic drawings. Understanding orthographic drawings is integral to becoming a skilled interior architecture and design professional.
