Ready, Set, Germany! A New Chapter for Young South Americans
Youthful South Americans gear up for training session - South American youths gearing up for upcoming training sessions
Hey there! Here's some exciting news about a unique opportunity for young people! Forty brave souls from South America are now honing their skills at a special school in Thuringia called the "German Professional School" (GPS), as announced by the Ministry of Economics.
These next four months will see them diving deep into mastering the German language, understanding the ins and outs of Thuringia, learning about the social system, and absorbing key political and cultural values of Germany. This is part of their intense preparation for an apprenticeship in the Free State.
Cool, right? And here's the kicker - this isn't your regular "once upon a time" school project; last year, it started off with young people with a migration background already residing in the Free State.
Time to Shake Things Up: Boos-John's Mission
Now, these 17 spirited women and 23 energetic men from South American countries like Mexico, Ecuador, Guatemala, Brazil, El Salvador, Honduras, and Bolivia, have even more up their sleeves! They'll be attending courses, internships, and company visits. Notably, they've already aced a language course in their home countries.
By August, they could very well be stepping into the Thuringian training and labor market! Despite the economic hiccups, businesses are still in search of eager apprentices and skilled workers, according to Minister of Economics Colette Boos-John (CDU).
By 2035, the Free State could potentially face a workforce shortage of around 170,000 individuals. Boos-John sees the GPS as a potential solution to bridge this gap in the future.
But Wait, There's More!
The GPS was first launched at four locations - Eisenach, Mühlhausen, Gotha, and Jena - last year. The program is still in its pilot phase, according to the ministry.
Boos-John has ambitious plans for the GPS. She sees it as a promising approach to attract skilled workers but wants to refine its focus on the economy and improve coordination with existing recruitment and support projects in the area.
So there you have it! This innovative project is designed to equip our brave South American friends with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their careers in Germany. Whether it's polishing language skills or learning about the local culture, they're in for an unforgettable journey!
