In the vibrant city of Augsburg, the 8th edition of the Augsburg Media Prize (Medienpreis Augsburg) was held at Congress at the Park. The event, organised by Johannes Kopp, chairman of Medienforum Augsburg e. V., attracted a diverse range of attendees, including European politician Markus Ferber from Brussels, and Bavarian Minister-President Markus Söder, who sent a video message of congratulations.

The Augsburg Media Prize is a prestigious award given to journalists, publications, or media products that make significant contributions, usually within a given year. This year, the 1st Prize was awarded to the State Theatre Augsburg for their innovative use of Virtual Reality to explore new paths of cultural mediation.

A new addition to the Augsburg media landscape is the Rocketeer Kids Festival, initiated in 2024. Derived from the Rocketeer Festival, a future festival for adults, the Rocketeer Kids Festival targets children as the future shapers. Daniel Kempf, Christiane Zaunitzer, and Janina Tetsch are responsible for the concept, leadership, and project management of this new event.

The special prize this year was awarded to the Media Centre Augsburg, MSA, for their 40 years of active performance in media education and media competence. Fabian Mehring, the Digital Minister in the Söder cabinet, was the laudator for the "Board's Special Prize". The Media Centre Augsburg aims to sensitize young people and their parents, strengthen the advice of educators, and accompany children and young people in their media upbringing.

Another notable winner of the 2nd Prize was the project "Capito" by AZ Language School, which combined integration and media education. The exact details on each winner and their works are not available at this time, as comprehensive information about the 2022 edition's winners is not found in the provided search results.

Mayor Eva Weber was represented by Wolfgang Hübschle due to her absence. The event marked a celebration of media innovation and education in Augsburg, with the Media Centre Augsburg, MSA, leading the way in this field for the past four decades.

  1. Despite the focus on political figures and media innovation, the home-and-garden scene in Augsburg is also thriving, with the Rocketeer Kids Festival, a new addition to the city's media landscape, targeting children as the future shapers.
